I'm pretty sure Jacob scheduled our Las Vegas New Year's trip completely spur of the moment - I mentioned that we should go to Vegas sometime since he hadn't spent any proper time there. This prompted him to start looking at flights, and next thing I know, we had a New Year's trip booked.

It worked out incredibly well. The weather was beautiful (especially compared to Wisconsin in the winter), so we just walked up and down the strip, enjoying the strange and extravagant ambience of the casinos. I had to introduce Jacob to the ridiculous oversized adult slushy drinks, because that's just classic Vegas, right?
We caught a Cirque show one night, Jacob had a decent streak of luck at the roulette table, and I showed Jacob my favorite live music spots - a dueling piano bar and an Irish pub with a clog dancer. It should come as no surprise that we also took a spin on the classic ferris wheel. Our favorite morning activity? Enjoying the pool and Jacuzzi at our hotel - super relaxing and mostly deserted.
One day, we decided to take the bus over to Fremont Street to experience the newly renovated Vegas of yore. In an auspicious start to the journey, a woman took a tumble on the bus, which meant we had to pull over, evacuate, and walk to the next stop to catch the next bus. The next bus was on quite a mission and we had to hold on for dear life to stay on our feet as it sped through the route. Once we made it there, things went far more smoothly. Though we did have to go in every single Casino before we found the one with the old fashioned horse race game that I love.
The highlight of the trip, though, was New Year's Eve. Even though we were both slightly under the weather, we were determined to ring in the new year on the strip. We went outside to the street, where live music was playing across the street, and danced in the new year - encouraging everyone around us to boogey with us. Jacob is convinced that it was Lil Jon performing across the street - who am I to tell him otherwise?
Viva Las Vegas!
