For our three year anniversary, we decided to visit the land of leprechauns and shamrocks - Dublin, here we come!
We stayed at a lovely hotel that included an extensive art collection with a guided tour. It also had a fun bar down in the cellar with super friendly bartenders. We even were gifted a wine bottle opener as a souvenir - to this day, the best opener I've owned.
We spent plenty of time walking the streets of Dublin - by the river, through the parks, around the shopping district. We also signed up for the hop-on hop-off tour bus, which was lovely. The tour guides were great, it was a convenient way to get around the city, and it came with a few additional tours included.
We toured both a whiskey distillery and a brewery, both of which were pretty neat. The distillery was in a refurbished church and had an old graveyard outside. The interior was fun - they had an artist create whiskey-themed stained glass and their shop included faux Irish store fronts. Next stop was the Guinness brewery, which included a fancy tour, a flight of beer, and a beautiful view.
The nightlife in Dublin was also quite festive. We took a nighttime bus tour to see the Christmas lights that were already going up around the city. The guide's accent was difficult to understand but also delightful. We also very much enjoyed stopping by the bars with live music, which was either traditional Irish music or covers of popular music. Plus, we found some exciting donuts one night on our way back to the hotel.
By our last day, we had fully embraced the city and were sad to leave. We ended our trip by doing a final lap around a few of our favorite parks. Thanks for a great time, Dublin!
