Living the Dream in Positano - April 2022

What are the first things I remember when I think about my time on the Amafli Coast? Beautiful views of the Mediterranean, towns built into cliffs, Limoncello spritzes, and stairs. So many stairs. Stairs upon stairs upon more stairs.
Our journey to Positano began in Rome, where we took a train to Naples before meeting our arranged van driver to the coast. It is a good thing we didn't try to drive ourselves, driving in Naples is no joke! I think about half of our time in the car was spent going around an insane traffic circle outside of the train stations.

The drive was very scenic, but also very windy. The driver told us there was a Limoncello factory we could stop at to stock up for our stay, and I enthusiastically agreed - both because I wanted to get some Limoncello and because I wanted some fresh air. We got to see some of the inner-workings of the factory (so many lemon peels) and then got to taste three different kinds of Limoncello, all delicious. After purchasing a couple bottles, we piled back into the van.
We were greeted in Positano by our B&B hosts and hiked up many flights of stairs to our humble abode for the weekend. The terrace had an amazing view, complete with a crane (because, of course), and we happily settled in. The boys went for a grocery run after a very rigorous meal planning session (the grocery store was at the bottom of all those stairs so planning was key), and brought back a few unplanned treats - some boutique cookies, nut butters, and olive oils, yum!
Meanwhile, those of us back at the terrace befriended an adorable black tuxedo cat - the first of several friendly (or not-so-friendly) cats we would meet that weekend. Dinner consisted of "wing it" pasta, wine, and some canned anchovies. The sunset was meh - I guess. You can judge for yourself:
The cooking adventures continued the next morning - homemade hard boiled eggs were a fan favorite. We also enjoyed some arts and crafts - french braiding, cut off t-shirts, creative facial hair, etc. Come lunchtime, it was spritz o'clock and we started a DJ rotation on the terrace of our fave songs. It was a #crisp afternoon.
Alas, we needed to start planning for departures, so we went off in search of some Covid tests. Did I mention there are a lot of stairs in Positano? So we had to go down all the stairs and then back up the other side to get to the pharmacy. And then got to do it all over again. The cuteness of the town was a welcome distraction from my very sore calf muscles.
Negative tests acquired, we had to bid adieu to John and Kaitlin the next day. We decided to do some exploring of the beach area, so we meandered down the stairs, browsed through a few shops, and then settled in for a spritz by the sea.
That evening, we had a lovely date night at a local restaurant specializing in seafood pasta and lemon tiramisu. We timed it just right because the wind really picked up at the end of the meal, so we scrambled back up the stairs and settled in for our final night in Positano, saying good bye to our new cat friend.

Dave departed early the next morning, leaving just me and Jacob. We had a few hours to kill before we needed to head to the airport, so we enjoyed some pastries at a cafe and a glass of red at a wine bar. It was quite entertaining to watch everyone try to navigate with the strong gusts of wind outside.
Our driver, who I'm pretty sure used to do some F1 racing, got us to the airport in one piece, where we caught our flight back to Copenhagen, ending a magical week in Italy.
