Having moved to Bristol only 3 months prior, the memories of living in beautiful, wonderful Copenhagen were still fresh. With Jacob having a work trip out there, we decided to spend a weekend visiting our fave CPHaunts.

It was a glorious stroke of luck that we timed our trip with Culture Night, a lovely tradition where you can enter various buildings and participate in various events around the city. We asked our colleagues, who we were already planning to have dinner with, if they would like to join, and thus were plans laid.

After a breezy flight from Bristol, I acquired Culture Night tickets from 711 before enjoying a relaxing afternoon around town. I visited Lidkoeb, our second fave cocktail bar, for a quick drink, then enjoyed the autumnal sun with a quick walk by the lakes before heading to the old office in Nordhavn.

After gathering the crew, we walked over to Hija de Sanchez, a tasty taqueria, where we were inexplicably asked to wait for 5 minutes before placing our orders and taking a seat. After some drinks and snacks, it was time for Culture Night! First stop: trains of the future, hosted by DSB. Alas, the demand for trains was high, and the supply was low - even after hiking to track 26. We peeked inside the (mostly the same) train of the future before bailing and heading to the Glyptotek instead. The Carlsberg family-founded museum hosts an eclectic mix of artifacts - we got a full introduction to their mummies, viewed a bevy of busts, then briefly enjoyed a new age concert filled with... lyrics submitted on the internet. At this point, our colleagues departed, but we kept the party going, visiting the Frederiksberg palace before retiring for the evening.

After a nice hotel breakfast, it was time for Jacob to vote. Since my knee was acting up a bit, I sat outside the Frederiksberg Center and enjoyed the ambience while Jacob went to Føtex, struggled to find good tape to buy, and posted his ballot.

Next stop was the primary stop: Halloween Tivoli! Filled with pumpkins, a floating canister, a witches' cauldron, and souvenir shops galore, Tivoli is just about the cutest things you'll ever see. Alas, we had a glitch with our tickets (phantom barcode - I blame the Halloween spirits!), but after getting that sorted, we went on a quick shopping spree before grabbing some white gløgg and going for a stroll around the park. Alex met us there and filled us in on the various Copenhagen gossip while we enjoyed lunch at the food hall and a drink in the heated tent with a view of the spooky maze.

After Alex departed, it was time for a quick pit stop at our absolute fave cocktail bar - Gensyn! We got there in time for a busy happy hour, enjoying both our fave drinks (walnut brown, mezcal negroni, manhattan), and a new one (spicy margarita). It's always a treat going there - the cocktails are delicious, the ambience is chill, and the service is friendly. After a few rounds, it was decidedly time for dinner. We went back by our hotel and grabbed some shawarma from a food truck by the center - yum!

After almost forgetting to pay for our metro ride, we made it back to Tivoli just in time to grab seats for the hip hop pantomime show at the peacock theater. Boy, was it something else! The show featured an evil Perrot, a hero who could do air flares, and a motley cast of supporting characters. After the show, we enjoyed a nighttime stroll around the park, enjoyed the classic views and the fun, new firefly field. We left reaffirmed in our belief that Tivoli is the best amusement park in the whole world.

Sunday started with a final trip to Føtex to get Jacob a baseball hat before we took a rainy stroll over to Frederksberg Gardens, what is probably one of the best parks in the entire world. After enjoying the fall colors, the waterfall, and fountains, we walked down P. Bangs and enjoyed a warm beverage before eating some delicious pasta from the Italian place across from our previous home. After a final ride on the 9A (RIP), we gathered our things and departed for the airport. My first trip to my fave city as a tourist, complete. Here's to many more!
